Well, lots going on at work this past week. The one command that we are supposed to merge with has been having some serious leadership problems. Two of their three Chiefs have been fired, one of them went to Mast on Friday, and the third is fairly junior. So we get a call late on Friday (well, sometime in the afternoon I left early) that since we are going to merge anyway the bosses up in Naples want our OIC to take over for this other command now. This is after the people down there have already gone through two CPOICs in two days. This would make the third in a week. Not a good situation. We are supposed to meet at the Operations Officer's house this afternoon to decide what to do tomorrow.
I am supposed to be on leave next week, I started Friday afternoon. But with this going on, coupled with the only other experienced Admin person having to go on emergency leave due to a death in the family I may be in and out of the office more than I imagined. Ah well, I was mainly taking leave to burn it before the beginning of the fiscal year anyway.
So I finally got my NCAA Football 2006 in the mail last week. I started the season at #12 and have moved up to #2. I am undefeated so far and have beaten then #6 Texas and #3 Iowa. USC is #1 of course. Those bums. I started the season on the default dificulty since I haven't played a football game for several years but I may have to bump it up next season. Beating your opponent by scores like 42-7 is nice but not that challenging. Sometimes it takes me a quarter to figure out how to attack and defend against a team but that's about it. Iowa gave me the hardest time so far, actually being in the lead at 7-3 for a while. (The first time I've been behind all year.) Ah well, it will be nice if I can lead OSU to the National Championship.
I also picked up The Bard's Tale and it has been amusing so far, but I've only played it for a few minutes.
The weather has been typical summer the last month or so. No rain, temps in the tripple digits, etc. I went out back yesterday at 0930 and it was over 110 in the sun. Not good for doing anything outside. I take the dog for a walk most every night between 2100-2200 and come back sweating.
It looks like D and the kids may be going back to Ohio and not NH when they leave. Both houses we have looked into have fallen through. And in Ohio they will have my father and brother to help them look for a house. It will also be somewhere that D can take her time and find a place in NH that she really likes again.
